Even in the current economic climate, business does anything
but stand still. And neither does innovation in print technologies. Leading
print professionals are increasingly assessing, evaluating and selecting
digital printing, workflow, and automated finishing systems, searching for ways
to gain a competitive advantage that can move their business forward. Speed and
color continue to be among the most sought-after attributes for printing
systems that can meet the needs of companies with both narrow and wide format
production requirements.
That's why the theme in the Océ booth at the in Philadelphia(April
2022) is "The Power of Color, The Speed of Business." And thats
exactly what Océ is gearing up to deliverwith a lineup of innovative color and
black & white products, compelling presentations and exciting live
workflows.
A New Chapter in Book Printing Filling the need for speed and productivity
The business models of book publishers and book manufacturers are undergoing massive change. The very ways in which books are produced is changing and digital printing is every bit as important as how titles are produced for e-readers. The main attraction in Philadelphia will be an end-to-end digital book system featuring advanced workflow software, the new press, and sophisticated post-processing. The same system will also be showing automated production of complex manuals with duplex printed tabs and color inserts. Try that on a Kindle or tablet!
For the most demanding print volumes, the new system, a high-speed black & white,
continuous feed printer with full-color capability, will demonstrate the
flexibility of advanced book production and finishing solutions. And it
doesn't stop with toner presses. Visitors to the booth will also have
an opportunity to view video feeds of the
ultra-high-speed color inkjet systems.
Empowering
the Engines of Innovation Workflow
for maximum performance
No
matter how powerful a digital press may be, workflow software is what
ultimately empowers these engines of innovation. Without
state-of-the-art workflow tools, even the fastest presses cannot deliver
the performance that makes them efficient and profitable business
investments. Océ will show three examples of PRISMA-empowered workflows
at On Demand.
A harmonized workflow using the
controller will drive the Océ VarioPrint 6320 Ultra, showing how to
maximize productivity and cost efficiency in multi-engine environments.
, and will be teamed together in one integrated workflow
that
automates job submission, preparation, make-ready and printing. This
powerful combination maximizes the performance and throughput of
advanced digital printers, enabling customers to capture new revenue
streams.
The combination of and ® highlights the power of automation in streamlining
printing and reprinting of books on demand to improve process
efficiency, accelerate turnaround and reduce costs. This combination
automates job submission and management and enables batch production of
jobs, PDF bar-coding, and scan-to-reprint capabilities, vastly
simplifying the book production process. Book blocks are soft-proofed
on-screen using ® software, which
enables users to produce a
virtual proof print instead of a hard-copy proof on a production device
without wasting toner, paper, time and click charges.
Automated Book Production The automated book production workflow also shows print providers how they can automatically monitor service level agreements to ensure that jobs close to deadline are given priority, as well as reducing setup time for presses and finishing devices, minimize the number of roll changes, print book covers and book blocks on demand, and start reprints as needed.
The Océ PRISMAproduction Batch Manager automatically groups jobs based on pre-defined parameters to improve process efficiency, enabling customers to gang multiple jobs with the same book format or paper requirements. Live on the show floor, Océ PRISMAproduction software will receive JDF files containing order information from Océ PRISMAweb or a customers MIS system, grab the PDF files for the book covers and book blocks, generate and add tracking barcodes to the covers and interior pages, group the jobs based on specific parameters and direct them to the desired device for printing. The barcoded jobs can be tracked throughout the workflow and automatically reprinted as necessary.
Innovation on the Wide Side Powerful and profitable solutions
In
the wide format area of the exhibit, Océ Wide Format Printing Systems
will showcase two innovative solutions for display graphics and
technical document applications. The new UV-curable
flatbed printer, the
digital cutting system and the
system, using its revolutionary solid toner Océ
CrystalPoint technology will each running on the show floor,
demonstrating the productivity that makes these systems both powerful
and profitable.
First up is the new Océ Arizona®
550 GT UV-curable flatbed printer, the fastest member of the
award-winning Océ Arizona Series. With the highest quality in the
market, it easily handles peak demand for rush jobs and offers much
better value than comparable systems. Featuring a production print mode
of up to 433 square feet per hour on rigid media, users can print more
than 100 four-by-eight-foot boards in a single eight-hour shift. An
Express print mode will also be available with print speeds of up to 721
square feet per hour, or 22 four- by eight-foot boards per hour, nearly
three times higher than the fastest print speed available on the
previously-released Océ Arizona 350 GT printer.
Designed as a true flatbed system, the Océ Arizona 550 GT printer can
print on a wide variety of rigid substrates up to 49.2 by 98.4 inches in
area and up to two inches thick. But because rigid materials aren't the
only choice for wide format printing, the Arizona 550 GT offers a Roll
Media Option for printing onto flexible media up to 86.6 inches wide.
The system also offers a White Ink Option for printing onto non-white media or objects and onto transparent media to create stunning backlit images.
Next up is the Océ ProCut 2500L digital cutting system, which will be shown
alongside the Arizona 550 GT printer for automated finishing of rigid
and roll-based wide format prints. This complete system of hardware,
software, consulting and service reduces labor and materials costs in
the finishing stage, while enabling customers to maintain high
productivity levels and increase profit margins. It also opens the door
to new business opportunities for small- and medium-sized businesses,
enabling them to offer a wider range of
services to their clients.
Not all jobs need the size of the Arizona line, so
the the acclaimed Océ ColorWave 600 will be shown printing complex color
maps, typical of todays numerous geographic information system (GIS)
applications. In addition, the Océ ColorWave 600 will be shown with
Posterizer software, an easy-to-use, fully integrated
Point of Purchase (POP) signage solution.
Print-for-pay firms can offer retailers a cost-effective, fast turnaround option for short-term, disposable signage that enhances in-store marketing and merchandising. The Océ ColorWave 600 printer requires no drying time and prints on uncoated media, so even high-color-coverage posters and signage can be handled immediately with print costs kept low.
