Empowering
the Engines of Innovation Workflow
for maximum performance
No
matter how powerful a digital press may be, workflow software is what
ultimately empowers these engines of innovation. Without
state-of-the-art workflow tools, even the fastest presses cannot deliver
the performance that makes them efficient and profitable business
investments. Océ will show three examples of PRISMA-empowered workflows
at On Demand.
A harmonized workflow using the
controller will drive the Océ VarioPrint 6320 Ultra, showing how to
maximize productivity and cost efficiency in multi-engine environments.
, and will be teamed together in one integrated workflow that
automates job submission, preparation, make-ready and printing. This
powerful combination maximizes the performance and throughput of
advanced digital printers, enabling customers to capture new revenue
streams.
The combination of and ® highlights the power of automation in streamlining
printing and reprinting of books on demand to improve process
efficiency, accelerate turnaround and reduce costs. This combination
automates job submission and management and enables batch production of
jobs, PDF bar-coding, and scan-to-reprint capabilities, vastly
simplifying the book production process. Book blocks are soft-proofed
on-screen using ® software, which enables users to produce a
virtual proof print instead of a hard-copy proof on a production device
without wasting toner, paper, time and click charges.
Automated Book Production The automated book production workflow also shows print
providers how they can automatically monitor service level agreements to
ensure that jobs close to deadline are given priority, as well as
reducing setup time for presses and finishing devices, minimize the
number of roll changes, print book covers and book blocks on demand, and
start reprints as needed.
The Océ PRISMAproduction Batch Manager automatically
groups jobs based on pre-defined parameters to improve process
efficiency, enabling customers to gang multiple jobs with the same book
format or paper requirements. Live on the show floor, Océ
PRISMAproduction software will receive JDF files containing order
information from Océ PRISMAweb or a customers MIS system, grab the PDF
files for the book covers and book blocks, generate and add tracking
barcodes to the covers and interior pages, group the jobs based on
specific parameters and direct them to the desired device for printing.
The barcoded jobs can be tracked throughout the workflow and
automatically reprinted as necessary.
