TransPromo Delivering new ways to communicate with customers
It was hard to get near the Océ JetStream 2200, the
big, fast inkjet printer launched late in 2007 but shown in public for
the first time at drupa. It was showcased running TransPromo documents
but also proved its versatility by printing color sections of digital
newspapers on newsprint --demonstrating that even full-color daily
newspapers can be produced cost-effectively in short runs. It was
TransPromo, though, that was capturing the imaginations of the throngs
standing three and four deep around the machine.
TransPromo is an emerging application
that enhances ordinary invoices or statements with promotional and
informational content that is often customized to the recipient. It
presents an important opportunity transactional documents are virtually
always opened and read, often several times. This makes them ideal
vehicles for communicating marketing or informational messages about a
company and its products.
But producing effective TransPromo
applications can be challenging. They require flexible hardware
platforms capable of adapting to each application, coupled with
flexible color output, expertise in application design, and tools that
facilitate adding variable content to a document. Other key elements
are data handling and processing, printing variable data in monochrome
or color, and document composition and process automation software.
At
drupa, Océ showcased the hardware, software and support companies need
to develop successful TransPromo strategies. The portfolio included the
for black & white TransPromo duplex
cut-sheet printing, the , the ,
the , and a variety of that
facilitates many aspects of TransPromo printing.
Attendees also
encircled the ColorStream 10000, which provides graphic arts quality
color but adapts to the individual requirements of every application,
delivering the exact level of color required. And because color
accuracy can be a critical concern in some applications, two systems,
the ColorStream 10000 and VarioStream 9240, as well as Océ PRISMA
workflow software have been approved by Pantone, the company whose name
is synonymous with color accuracy and quality, for use with the Pantone
Matching System colors and the Pantone Goe System colors. It's just
another way Océ customers can work without worry.
