Are You Experienced?

The Océ Customer Experience Center

A Full Range of Applications

Digital Nirvana

It's one thing to have the latest technology described to you. It's another to read about it, and still another to see it on a video. But there's no substitute for first-hand experience. This is especially true when it comes to the latest technologies in high speed digital printing. Because in the real world it's not just how fast the ink or toner is put on the page and how many pages are produced per minute --it's how the equipment and software will work for you. Print providers need to see for themselves how their own applications run on the big machines that promise to help make their operations more efficient, more flexible --and more profitable. They want to put the print engines and the software that drives them to the test with real data that reflects the jobs they depend on to keep their businesses moving forward. In a word, they want the experience of operating the machine they will be counting on.

The Océ Customer Experience Center
Running real Jobs. Providing real results.

Delivering this experience is the concept behind the Océ Customer Experience Center at Océ's Production Printing Systems headquarters in Boca Raton, Florida. The new 18,000 square foot facility is at once a showcase for nearly everything Océ makes and sells, and also a place where print providers can test the technology in every way imaginable. Come prepared to push the limits.

The jobs your business depends on are comprised of a very specific range of requirements with respect to paper stocks, data streams, page description languages, use of color, turnaround times, finishing and mailing, and more. If you're a service bureau, for example, you may be considering investing in new technologies to meet new customer demands. If you're a data center or in-house print shop you may be looking for new ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency.

No matter what your requirements are, you need to see first-hand how the machines you're considering will stand up to real job files, test error recovery processes, and evaluate software using live data. Then you want to run the numbers to see if the performance matches up to your expectations and if the costs fall in line with your business requirements.

And there's more. You also want to learn whether the company selling the equipment and software understands your business and can provide the kind of support you need. Every aspect of the Océ Customer Experience Center is geared to provide this totally customized experience for every customer. Océ encourages anyone coming for a visit to arrive with live data, a list of requirements and plenty of questions so the equipment and software can all be put to the test while visitors experience first-and what it means to be an Océ Customer.

A Full Range of Applications
Everything you need to print

Océ recently invited a group industry analysts and journalists to tour the Customer Experience Center and see for themselves the range of applications that can run on Océ technology. It was readily apparent that Océ has state-of-the-art printing systems encompass statements to marketing collateral to books to TransPromo to large-format printing.

Against the backdrop of the new facility the group got a first look at the new Océ JetStream MICR ink jet system and the new Océ VarioPrint 4110 and 4120 monochrome cut-sheet printers (also see last month's Digital Asset Directions). Throughout the facility and across all the applications being shown it was clear that Océ offers many best-in-class products spanning a wide range of documents.

Books were being produced on the Océ VarioStream 8000 continuous feed and Océ VarioPrint 6000 cut-sheet systems. Meanwhile, a variety of TransPromo documents were running on Océ VarioStream 7000 systems and on Océ ColorStream 10000 full-color printers. The full range of Océ PRISMA software was running behind the scenes to ensure these jobs printed correctly, no matter what type of document was next in the print queue. Not to be outdone by the high speeds of the VarioPrint and VarioStream systems, the successful Océ CS 9000 and Arizona 250 GT  large format ink jet printers showed their ability to print top-quality signage, banners, posters, maps, and more. In fact, these devices were used to print the full-color wall coverings used throughout the facility.

Across the panoply of equipment and applications, it was clear that Océ has products for virtually every printing requirement and that the Customer Experience Center is a must-see venue for anyone seeking state-of-the-art digital printing technology.
